Building and Site Selection Committee

LOCATION: Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan and implement the construction projects of the Habitat for Humanity of Washington and Dodge Counties affiliate
• Obtain house plans, solicit bids and select vendors, coordinate the Gifts In Kind program in cooperation with staff, provide post-construction support as needed
• Investigate and research suitability of potential sites and properties

TIME COMMITMENT:
• Must attend monthly meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Commitment to furthering the mission of Habitat for Humanity
• Interest in or experience with construction, architecture, real-estate, etc.
• Understanding of the process of building homes using volunteers and donated materials

SKILLS PREFERRED:
• Background knowledge of Habitat for Humanity

BENEFITS TO VOLUNTEER:
• Satisfaction of contributing to the overall mission of Habitat for Humanity
• Participation in essential decisions regarding construction and home design

Family Selection and Nurture Committee

LOCATION: Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Draft selection criteria, screen applications, interview and recommend applicants as prospective homeowners to Board of Directors
• Provide homeowners and prospective homeowners with a mutual support system, educational opportunities, and a forum for discussions pertaining to home ownership and maintenance

TIME COMMITMENT:
• Must attend monthly meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Commitment to furthering the mission of Habitat for Humanity
SKILLS PREFERRED:
• Background knowledge of Habitat for Humanity
• Experience with and understanding of low-income families and their needs

Board of Directors

LOCATION: Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To witness and implement the Gospel of Jesus Christ by working with economically disadvantaged people to help them to create a better human habitat in which to live and work
• Guide and plan the future of the ministry of Habitat for Humanity of Washington and Dodge Counties

TIME COMMITMENT:
• Must attend quarterly meetings
• Must commit to serve until next annual meeting of Board of Directors

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Commitment to furthering the mission of Habitat for Humanity

SKILLS PREFERRED:
• Background knowledge of Habitat for Humanity

BENEFITS TO VOLUNTEER:
• Satisfaction of contributing to the overall mission of Habitat for Humanity
• Opportunity to vote upon plans which guide the affiliate’s mission

Fundraising and Public Relations Committee

LOCATION: Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinating the raising of funds needed to conduct the business of the Corporation
• Grant proposal writing, special fund-raising events, cultivation of major donors
• Educating the public regarding the mission of the Corporation through public speaking, communicating with the news and media, and publishing a periodic newsletter

TIME COMMITMENT:
• Must attend scheduled meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Commitment to furthering the mission of Habitat for Humanity
• Experience in fundraising and/or media relations

SKILLS PREFERRED:
• Background knowledge of Habitat for Humanity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

BENEFITS TO VOLUNTEER:
• Satisfaction of contributing to the overall mission of Habitat for Humanity
• Participation in essential financial aspect of ministry

Outreach Committee

LOCATION: Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build a volunteer base in your community
• Assist with special events, golf outings
• Strengthen faith relations in your community

TIME COMMITMENT:
• Attend scheduled meetings, twice a month

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Commitment to furthering the mission of Habitat for Humanity
• Experience in fundraising, volunteering services and/or media relations

SKILLS PREFERRED:
• Background knowledge of Habitat for Humanity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
